This 12 month, 1820 hour program is designed for the beginner. The program focuses on the theoretical knowledge, the practical knowledge, and the experience that novice stylists require to transition themselves into a successful career within the hair industry. Throughout the course, students are exposed to the professional FIORIO culture.

The 12 month course is broken down into 2 parts. The first 6 months entails lectures and clinics. Students are in the classroom learning the fundamentals of hair styling and dressing.

Introduction to Cosmetology

The remaining 6 months focus on the working salon and field experience. Students graduate to the cutting floor where they work on clients while being supervised by cutting and colouring instructors.

This course is designed for the hairstylist that has been away from the salon environment for some time. It prepares those stylists for re-entry into the industry by reviving their skills and knowledge. The course is ideal for the experienced stylist that is new to the province.

Salon Owners/Managers: This course will train, educate, and motivate your staff to bring their service to the next level and enhance their technical skills.

The student is required to take a placement test. A full evaluation of prior theory knowledge and practical skills will be conducted on the student prior to acceptance to determine how to tailor the program to meet the student's individual needs.

This fundamental course is intended for the colour-shy stylist. Students are shown how to successfully recommend colour to all clients. Upon leaving the course, students feel more comfortable and confident when recommending appropriate colour techniques to clients.

The course covers the proper use of the colour wheel, an in-depth look and understanding of the products used, and the correct method to analyze hair.

This course enables students to expand their knowledge on colour techniques, while learning how to successfully sell colour to their clientele. Instructors demonstrate how to explore the creative sides of colour application that will impress clients.

The course entails methods on effective client consultations, dimensional colouring, foil highlights, balayage, and the application of the latest trends in colour.

Live and/or mannequin models are used.

The extension training program is very intensely structured for serious hairstylists who are attending school on a daily basis, as well as those who wish to update their skills with the current industry trends.

The program requires that each student receives 8 hours of training, consisting of 3 hours of theory and 5 hours of practical.

Training takes place during regular school hours. The group has a private class with the Certified Fiorio Extension Instructor at the designated time.
