Thursday, May 7th, 2009During the weeks of October 24th – 28th and October 31st – November 4th, Fiorio stylists performed head shaves for the Mix 99.9’s Shave to Save campaign. The campaign was highly successful, as stylists went out to 13 different locations across the GTA to shave donor’s heads. Some of them were men, some of them were women and some of them were children, and they all shared the same purpose of donating their hair to the Breast Cancer cause.
Special Thanks go out to our Fiorio team members who participated by shaving heads; Corrado and Donato of Richmond Hill, Nelson and Stephen of Yonge St., Danielle and Patricia of Square One, Amanda of Cumberland, Paul and Billy of Bayview, Tony and Joe of Avenue Road, Terry and Anna of Vaughan.
Special Thanks also go out to Colomer Canada Ltd., who supplied the campaign with professional hair care products for the shaves, as well as gift bags for the donors. Your contribution was a generous one and much appreciated.
The final shave was held at Sherway Gardens on Friday, November 4th, from 6am to 9am. Owner Maurice Fiorio and his collegue Gian Franco Scavo were on-hand for the final head shaves, which were broadcasted over the radio live on Mix 99.9 by Humble Howard. See the attached photos of the event.
All in all, this year’s Shave to Save campaign was a great success through the generosity of many donor’s time and money.
Thank you!

Cops for Cancer
Thursday, May 7th, 2009Fiorio Vaughan will be participating in the annual Cops for Cancer York Regional Police fundraiser event on April 25th 2009. The event will take place at Vaughan Mills Mall, Discover Court, located in between Entries 2 & 3 between 11am to 3pm
This program started in 1994 when an Edmonton police officer with a shaved head posed for a picture with a young cancer patient.
The officer wanted to support the boy, who was being ridiculed at school because of his hair loss. Other officers joined in and shaved their heads.
Since then police officers from across Canada have held Cops for Cancer fundraising events for the Canadian Cancer Society. Cops both men and women agree to have their heads shaved at a public place such as shopping malls or city hall squares. The police officers gather pledges from co-workers, friends and family.
